No Charges for Sam Hunt

Sam Hunt's mugshot got released following last week's arrest near Nashville, but it sounds like he WON'T be facing charges after all.

Hunt was pulled over for speeding last Monday and was arrested him for not having an Interlock device installed in the vehicle.  The singer was busted for DUI and an open container back in 2019, leading to the current breathalyzer order.  Hunt was doing 85 in a 70 when he got pulled over this time.  Police saw the Interlock order when they ran his license.  Not having one in the F-250 he was driving lead to the arrest. Hunt's rep told TMZ he won't face charges though.  They said his lawyer "cleared the paperwork in court this week" and he isn't being charged.

Except for the lawyer's fee.

. . .and that speeding ticket.

Lauren Alaina's Big Surprise

Lauren Alaina surprised fans yesterday with an early release of a brand new single and the accompanying music video.  The song, "Those Kind of Women" is a sweet tribute to the women who raised her. Her own mother features in the video and so does an even bigger surprise. Alaina shows off her own baby bump in the video as her mom stands by her, smiling, officially announcing her pregnancy to fans. Shortly after the music video’s release yesterday afternoon, People Magazine published an exclusive interview with the 30 year-old about her first pregnancy.  Before Baby Arnold arrives this summer (she married Cam Arnold last February), Alaina is scheduled to go on tour with Rascal Flatts from February through April.

Bailey Zimmerman Apologies

Billy Ray Cyrus wasn't the only country star who crashed and burned this week.  Bailey Zimmerman performed at Luke Bryan's "Crash My Playa" event last weekend in Cancun and he was tanked. Fans complained about Bailey's vocals on social media, and it sure sounds (and looks) like he was.  At one point he seems to fall on the stage, but he also jumps off it.  Yesterday, Bailey posted an apology video on Instagram.  He said he was embarrassed and admitted he was  "too drunk to play."  He apologized to fans, and said it won't happen again.

Billy Ray's Bizarre Inauguration Performance

Billy Ray Cyrus is facing ridicule for his disaster of a performance following the inauguration of President Trump. The 63-year-old was "performing" at the Liberty Bell concert yesterday in Washington DC. It was one of three balls held after the day’s swearing-in ceremony. Cyrus, Jason Aldean, and the Air Force Band were set to perform before the stage would be handed over to Trump. It became obvious that Billy Ray was never intended to perform LIVE.  His guitar and mic were barely audible as the video to "Old Town Road" played behind him.  (Who thought that was a good idea anyway?) But Billy couldn't even lip-sync. He stumbled and twirled around the stage like a bad trip (which he obviously was on), spending a good portion of his short time on stage staring at the screen behind him. Eventually, thankfully, the lights were killed and a stagehand came onto the stage to escort him off in the dark.

Country Music on Display at Today's Inauguration

Donald Trump will be sworn in around noon today by Chief Justice John Roberts. Last week, Carrie Underwood announced she would be singing "America the Beautiful" at the swearing-in ceremony, where tenor Christopher Macchio will sing the National Anthem. Underwood was a surprise get for the president-elect’s inauguration program. Another unexpected announcement came from Jason Aldean, Parker McCollum, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Rascal Flatts who will each be performing at a Victory Rally or one of three balls Trump is throwing later today. All four living presidents—Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden—are expected to attend. Livestream the day here starting at 10:30am.

People's Sexiest 25 Year-Old

You may know that John Krasinski was recently named People Magazine's 2024 Sexiest Man Alive, but did you know there were also 2 country stars that made the list?  Warren Zeiders was named People's Sexiest 25 Year-Old. The "Pretty Little Poison" singer credits his signature long locks for giving him a leg up in the competition.  Luke Combs is the other country star to be featured on the 2024 list as the Sexiest 34 Year-Old. Combs joked that "1990 must have been a down year for hot guys".

Carrie Underwood to Perform at Inauguration

Carrie Underwood will sing "America the Beautiful" during Donald Trump's inauguration next week. She will be accompanied by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club. In a statement, Underwood said, "I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future."

Underwood is to perform shortly before Trump takes the oath of office at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 20.  Other inauguration ceremony performers will include The Village People and two of the president-elect’s musical favorites, opera singer Christopher Macchio and Lee Greenwood who, along with Toby Keith, performed at the Lincoln Memorial before Trump was first sworn into office in 2017.

Wildfires Postpone Shaboozey's Opry Debut

Shaboozey has been forced to flee his southern California home as wildfires encroach on the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The largest fire, in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, is now threatening residents of Brentwood and Encino as it moves east.  Shaboozey was born and raised in Virginia, but moved to L.A. to pursue his music career in 2018.  The singer-songwriter was set to make his onstage debut this Saturday (Jan 18) at the Grand Ole Opry in celebration of Dolly Parton’s 79th birthday. The Opry was Shaboozey's only performance before heading overseas in March for a string of concerts.

Post Malone Tips Big

Post Malone went above and beyond on Christmas Eve. The star tipped a Texas bartender 20-thousand dollars that night. Renee Brown is a single mother who had to work into early Christmas morning to make ends meet.  The 36-year-old was struggling with the reality of being away from her 9-year-old when Malone made an unexpected visit to The Railyard in Houston. Malone was in town with Shaboozey to perform with Beyoncé for the Houston Texans' halftime show on Christmas Day. Regulars picked up the entourage's drinks all evening, but he insisted on being charged a small amount so he could tip. She plans to use the money to buy a new car, adding she hasn't had one for two years.
